In poetry one can only inhabit the place one leaves behind, one can only create the act one parts with, one can only attain permanence by destroying time.
René Char
In his solo piece, dancer and choreographer Gilles Welinski deals with dance and its origins in ritual, trance and ecstasy. His highly improvisational work examines the search for context and correlation beyond the realm of words and sentences. The body is considered the site of genuine experience and perception, if possible free from language. Who or what is a human being inside his skin? Space and light, feelings and sensations are only some of the topics defining his work.
The native Frenchman has worked e.g. with the choreographers Hervé Robbe, Michèle Anne de Mey and Pina Bausch. From 1994 to 2007, he was a member of the Bremer Tanztheater uner the direction of Susanne Linke and Urs Dietrich.

Life in the media age demands constant presence. The virtual world of the internet permits continuous changes of identity. The body becomes the surface of a flickering screen, the pretended carrier of an ever-changing profile. Everything is possible, whether German superstar or Polish cleaning woman. Together with the French music duo ANDA, dancer and choreographer Günther Grollitsch from Bremen has developed a piece in which both genres merge. The dancers and musicians are equal performers on stage. Together they develop concepts of rapprochement.
Günther Grollitsch is the second director of the steptext dance project and works internationally as a lecturer for contemporary dance. He has danced e.g. with Amanda Miller and the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel, where he also developed his first choreographies.
ANDA was formed in 2003 by Anne Berry (viola, violin, vocals) and Daniel Trutet (cello, guitar, percussion, samples, composition). The string duo interweaves classic-acoustic and electronic sounds into a form of electronic chamber music.
