Jean-Claude Galotta is said to have revolutionized the French dance scene. From the 1980’s onwards, he has been occupied with a large task - the merging of stage and reality.
Die ZEIT
Des Gens qui dansent is ten dancers of various ages intertwined in passionate duets, soulful trios and extraordinary quartets. Every human being should be loved abundantly - this is Galotta’s wish. A fluent translation of life onto the stage
Galotta uses so little ‘machinery’ in his piece, that in the beginning
one is almost tempted to believe that he wanted to simply arrange real life scenes on stage, rather than choreograph them. In fact however, although his choreography may appear true-to-life and sometimes even depict life itself, it is no more than simply freed of the mask of the spectacular and artificial
Claude-Henri Buffard
