Faut qu´on parle!

Hamid Ben Mahi – Compagnie Hors Série

Tuesday, March 4th, 9 pm
Schwankhalle
Price Category 4
Duration 60 minutes (followed by a post-performance talk)
French with German supertitles

So… we need to talk! And he comes right to the point, this Hamid Ben Mahi. As a storyteller, entertainer and raconteur, who knows how to track down his audience and make it pant. He makes us laugh and cry at the same time, he gets under our skin with these little incidents we know only too well, he makes us angry at the absurdities eating away at the day to day life of immigrants.
Le Monde

An angry-tender self portrait and at the same time a plea for tolerance.

Faut qu'on parle!

Explore your own identity with the means of dance – that’s the theme of hiphop dancer Hamid Ben Mahi, who was born in Algeria and grew up in a suburban housing scheme in Bordeaux. In an artistic collaboration with the distinguished director of the Compagnie H.V.D.Z., Guy Alloucherie, Ben Mahi gets very personal and takes to the floor. He speaks about war in Algeria, his family and friends, about memories and stories of dignity and solidarity, immigration and racism, fights and dreams – and about hiphop.
